Things To Know Before You Blow

  • icon 7-1

You are not legally required to disclose where you have been or what you had to drink to law enforcement officers.

  • icon 7-2

You have the option of requesting to speak with a lawyer first before deciding to take a breathalyzer test.

  • icon 7-3

If you refuse to take a breathalyzer test your license could be suspended, but it will also be suspended if you blow over the legal limit.

  • icon 7-4

An officer needs a legal basis to search your vehicle. Consenting to a search waives your legal rights.

  • icon 7-5

It is not mandatory to submit to field sobriety tests. Before doing so, you should ask to consult with your attorney.

  • icon 7-6

The breath machine is not infallible. It cannot always produce reliable results.

  • icon 7-7

You don’t have to enter a plea of “no contest” or “guilty” to get out of jail. If you were unfairly coerced into making such a plea, there are ways to reverse your conviction.
